Arkay's "Grey Lady" was the 1st stone sculpture carved by the artist. The piece was done in a classroom setting taught by reknowned Chicago artist, Kay Hoffman. This sculpture remains in the artist's personal collection.

The Mother & Child image
was created by ARKAY
after witnessing the birth of
his grandson Max, in 1992.

The sculpture was a gift to his daughter, Terri.

This work, titled "Rebuilding" was dedicated to the 9/11/2001 tragedy.

The sculpture was modified to show the hands of the workman emerging from the rubble of the Twin Towers.

The original work, completed in 1999 was conceived as a self portrait of the artist.
Materials consist of Virginia marble, concrete base and actual tools.
A bronze edition is in the works.

The life-size figure, carved of  alabaster mounted on a bronze base, traveled with the Holocast Memorial exhibit for several months. It was subsequently placed in a gallery and sold.  The artist wishes he had never sold it as it was one of his personal favorites.

Sculpture of Virginia Steatite, 18" high, titled
"Fantasy Lover" was conceived purely by accident.

While carving the figure in the forefront of a Female Nude, the excess stone in the rear suddenly took shape and meaning.
It may have been the wine... but now "Fantasy Lover"
is one of the artist's favorite sculptures.

The sculpture has since been released as a limited Bronze edition in polished bronze or antique patina shown below.
